Farmers and tractor owners have been urged to note identifying marks on vehicles after a series of thefts "targeting" classic models to export.
Wiltshire Police Rural Crime Team said tractors were being "quickly moved" overseas by the organised crime gangs thought to be behind recent thefts.
The force said classic Massey Fergusons "in particular" were stolen due to the simplicity of maintaining the vehicles.
Owners have also been advised to note serial, model and VIN numbers.
A police representative said officers were "aware of farms being targeted, in surrounding counties and further afield, for older tractors and equipment".
"Stolen tractors will be quickly moved out of the area and country by the organised crime gangs believed to be behind the thefts," they said.
They added that all thefts should be reported as soon as possible to help police investigate and recover vehicles.
Alongside documenting numbers and marks, owners of older machinery have also been urged to photograph the tractors to help with establishing rightful ownership if and when they are recovered.
